Taken with a macro lens . Drops of olive oil floating on the surface of water in a petri dish.  The colour comes from the shiny side of a DVD which was underneath the dish, and lit from the side with a torch. Andrew Bungard

Canon 7D

More conventional. Taken at 6am in the Ashridge Estate Berkhampstead. Andrew Bungard

Jack tells me this is two shots blended in Photoshop. The first one is a general wide image. The second one is with lights turned off. It's a long exposure with a laser pen plaid over the chair to form this lattice effect.

I took some bracketed exposures of my local train station at sunset, created an HDR picture from it, and tweaked it a bit on Photoshop.  I then combined it with several of the ribbons on the fan photos from the lesson

Sea sun and clouds.

A timeless image than in a nut shell reminds me of many happy days gone past. Image by Liz Vaz

Canon MK 11

The Cathedral Steps by Chris Worthington.

This reminds me of the famous images of Wells Cathedral Steps taken in the early 1900s. Just such a clean and simple image full of stories.

Canon IXUS 100IS

0.8 second  @ f/5.6 ISO 800 (Camera on auto)

Taken through the windscreen as it was washed by the wipers. Experimentation frees your mind, gives you confidence and can produce fresh dynamic images.

Nikon D70

Nicola Van Barthold.

It's been a wild wind watching Nicola grow in experience and confidence. She's been Student at The New Thames Valley University, Photography and done numerous other photography courses.

Canon Powershot S5IS

1/60th second @ f/4 ISO 100 (Camera on manual)

This was shot at sunrise, a time called the "magic hour" when everything looks beautiful. The long lens has foreshortened the perspective, adding to the drama.

Nikon D2X

8 seconds @ f/4  ISO 100 (Camera on manual)

The camera lies on the carpet and a torch hangs spinning from the door frame. This was taken at nighttime with the torch turned on and the room lights turned off half way through the exposure.

Peter Mais

Landscape photography is all about effort. Being there at the right time. Making time to wait for the moment.

With a tripods you can use long shutter speeds and leave the camera in place just till the light is exactly right.

Peter Mais

A nice wide angle lens has bought the foreground right into the picture.

A tripod was used and I should think around half a second exposure to get the water milky

It's interesting to se how much the reads in the foreground just make the picture. A calm peaceful image. Pictures don't have to be rocket science to acheive loads like this one

Again, just a clean simple image that says so much. It's often a case of "shoot what you see"

PJ

Quite interesting that the "light" in this image is solely the reflected light from a window. I like the blur in the second hand giving a movement in time.
